Meet Our Yarnitudes Teachers
learn from skilled knitters and crocheters
Sebastopol Knitting & Crochet Teachers
Learn about some of our wonderfully gifted teachers at Yarnitudes. They love what they do and it shows. We keep our class sizes small at Yarnitudes because we like giving our students individual attention. Be sure to take a look at our current class schedule to see what entices you to create your next wonderful project.
Trudy is here to help teach you a myriad of things. Available most days for lessons, mostly one on one. Learn to knit, crochet, tunisian, create cables , and have fun with colors and textures. If you just have a certain amount of yarn she will find the perfect project for you. The only day she is not available for lessons is Wednesday and of course when the store is closed. Call ahead, or fill out our contact form, or stop by to schedule.
Linda is a very calm and quiet teacher, she loves to share her knowledge and love of the craft. She has made some beautiful samples for the store, which are on display. Linda teaches the Half Pi Shawl class, the green one on the wall in the store, a shetland lace scarf class, top down socks on DPN’s, a pair of fingerless gloves using a pattern she designed herself, and a number of our other workshops.
Dierdre enjoys making garments: sweaters, shawls, socks, etc. She especially likes texture and often uses cables, lace, and twisted stitches. Deirdre has a lot of experience in sewing, including pattern drafting, and specializes in fitting garments – sewn or knitted – to fit any body.
Deirdre recently retired and is spending most of her time now knitting. She has taught people to knit informally for years and now is beginning to teach formally. She is available for private and group lessons. One of her favorite things to teach is the two at a time toe up sock class, using the magic loop method. She will stick with you until you finish the pair, no matter how long that takes. Ask her to teach you whatever it is you want to learn and she will be happy to show you.
Lesley is new to teaching but definitely is not new to knitting. She loves to make sweaters, socks, accessories, and blankets! She loves a puzzle and is great at helping fix those boo-boo that befall us all in our daily knitting. She loves to pair yarn with patterns and lives vicariously when she gets to help others design their projects. Just ask for help and she will do whatever she can to help you!
Karen is an amazing fiber artist who hand-paints both yarn and roving for the shop. Karen is not only our spinning instructor; she has a wealth of knowledge and you will learn so much from her. In addition to spinning classes, she holds workshops in the store for needle felting, spinning using drop spindles, and knitting straight from silk hankies.
