Happy Halloween!

I hope you had a great week and are fit and healthy.

Are you all ready for the invasion of the Trick or Treaters’?  Do you celebrate and get dressed up? I know for some it is their favorite holiday.  For me, it is not so much.  I guess it is how you are raised and the customs of where you grow up.  It really wasn’t a holiday that was celebrated in England while I lived there.  Wow!  That was a long time ago.  Although when I was back there recently I did notice a marked change.  Many more costumes in the stores, so I think they have adopted the tradition.  While Laura was little I did get with the program and made her costumes every year.  I do remember that being fun.  Where we live no though we really don’t get anyone knocking on our door, the climb just isn’t worth it.  I sincerely hope that you have a great time whatever your plans entail.

Are you lucky enough to have the kind of friend that although you don’t see them for months, and only talk to them once in a while when you see them it is as if time has stood still?  Well this week we are lucky enough to have two of our very dearest friends come to stay with us.  They will be with us until Friday we are having a great time.  It does mean however, that I may not be in the shop as much.  Never fear, Lesley will be available to help with all your yarny needs !

Lesley and I have been working on planning the next couple of month’s classes.  We think we have come up with some great ideas.  We have decided on some pretty quick and fun projects, where you will learn new skills and have a great gift to give or keep at the end of them, just in time for the holidays.  Take a look!

Here is one of our new classes.  A cable knit button up scarf/cowl.  It knits up quickly with one skein of chunky alpaca or 128 superwash.

Lesley has been in her absolute glory this week.  Rearranging shelves, moving things around, making room for all the new arrivals.  So much yarn now and with more on the way, we have to find a home for it.  We have just restocked on Cascade and Regia.  Berrcco will be here next week.  And, wait for it…MadelineTosh will be here soon.  We met with our Berrcco Euro yarn reps.  We picked out some great yarn from them.  It should arrive in time for that special project.  Don’t be surprised if you stop by and see a couple of empty shelves. We’re just planning ahead as things move around!

I was recently asked to finish a skirt for someone.  Most of the work was already done; it just needed the finishing touches.  Anyway I got me to thinking – yes I did that again – about what a great project it was.  So I am adding it to my list and perhaps even to the class list.  What do you think?  What have you added to your list lately that you never thought of knitting until you saw a completed project?

I often hear people come in and look at the clearance section and say wow that’s lovely but what would I do with it?  So I have gone through it and selected the yarn and a pattern to go with it and put it together in a bag, with a total price on it.  I even made up a little set to show you an example of a finished project.  Here it is, a jacket and hat made with clearance yarn.  Try it out you will be amazed at what you can do with some great yarn at a really great price.  Bonus. if we get rid of all our old stock, we have room for some lovely new things!

Oh! I almost forgot.  The first of the Svalbard sweaters is complete!

Mary Ann finished off her sweater this week and brought it in to show it off.  Isn’t it beautiful!  Just to prove it isn’t too late, Lesley is barley halfway done with the heart at the top and another knitter Just cast on yesterday!

I hope I have given you lots to think about and inspire you to get creative this week.  Take care and hope to see you soon
