Just Classes August!

knitting class

Well we had a blast with the hop.  We hope you did too!  We’re a little wiped out though.  Don’t mind us, we’re just going to curl up on this pile of yarn and sleep for a bit.

Sonoma County Yarn Shop

We wanted to thank you for making this event a success.  We couldn’t do it without your shining smiling face.  It was so fun to see you and your friends lined up outside the shop waiting for us to open!  Thank you!  Please do make sure to check your phone messages in case we called you about winning a prize.

Well I had better get to the point here sometime I guess.  We wanted to give you the August class list in case you haven’t been checking our website.  The offerings are a bit fewer this time around.

It isn’t too late to start your Exploration Station Shawl.  Many people are still working on it and I (Lesley) have barely had time to Work on mine!  There is plenty of time to finish this one!

This a super fun pattern by Stephen West.  The color Choices are endless.  Just check out the Ravelry Projects  to see some of the options.  We have many yarns in the shop that would be perfect for this shawl.  Just stop by and see.  We will help you pick out your color scheme and get you ready to start.  We will officially start on Friday, July 1.  But a few people who will have to be out of town have already gotten started.  I admit that I started early myself.  I wanted to make sure I could answer any questions that come up though!  Here are the details!

Instructor – Linda

Have you ever knitted when you should have purled?  Dropped a stitch?  Don’t know what you did wrong?  Well then this is the class for you.  We will show you how to pick up that dropped stitch and how to turn that purl into a knit.  We can teach you how to undo a bind off and take back those pesky wrong stitches.  You just have to bring in a couple of swatches to work with!  Afterwards we can try to diagnose a problem with your existing project.  You may need to make an appointment for a private lesson for help with larger problems.

Homework:  Before class you need to knit up two swatches in light colored worsted weight yarn.  Cast on 30 stitches and work for 4″.  One swatch in stockinette, one in garter stitch.  Make sure to leave one swatch on the needles (or a holder) and the other should be bound off.
