Sheeo, Wool, and Wine OH MY!

Sonoma County Yarn Shop

Well hello again,

How are you?  As you can tell I am back from my travels again and ready for some exciting additions to the store.

Yes Lesley has been having a clean out, moving things out to make more room for all the goodies that are arriving.  She is making good progress but there are still a lot of bargains to be had if you come in and check them out.

See!  SO much is still on sale!

Thank you to Lesley, Linda and Karen for holding the fort while I was away, as always they do a great job.

Now for the news on the Sheepies!  Well after a very long journey from over the pond they have arrived in their adopted country.  It was a very long day too, what with fight delays etc.  They needed a couple of days to get over it.  Anyway they are now resting peacefully in the store and awaiting their new forever home.  If you missed out on the last flock you might want to get in early to make sure you are not disappointed again.  Oh yes and just as a little surprise for Easter I found a few little bunnies to bring along too.

Speaking of Easter it will soon be here.  Are you ready?  As you may have noticed we are very sheep and bunny friendly this month.  Lesley has a class on the felted sheep and the bunny hat, and me with the Baa-ble Hat. Although the first session of the hat is full there are still a couple of spaces on the second session.  Sign up quickly and you too will have your hat for Easter. We have samples of all of these in the store so you can get a good look at them before committing to the classes, come and check them out.

Now for next weekend as promised in earlier newsletters, we have the Wine and Wool event on Saturday, March 5th and 12th.  Living in this wonderful county surrounded by farms, and wineries how can we go wrong?  As always even on my days off I am always thinking of how to bring yarn and all the wonderful things you can make with it as well as the tranquility and benefit you get with being around and working with it to those who have never even given it a second thought.  So what could be better than to join forces with a Winery?  Not just any winery either.  The Mauritson’s are a family of grape growers who at one time also farmed sheep.  You will see the images and references to this throughout the winery and even on their wine labels. While I was there some time last year I was talking to them about the sheep.  It is even where I found out where to get the sheep pillow that now sits proudly on the shop sofa.  My mind started to race with ideas.  I talked to Carrie at Mauritson about my idea and things started to come together.  Now what was just a thought and seemed very far off is happening next weekend.

Clay Mauritson is sixth generation and now their winemaker.   He does a great job of it too.  So much so that with the help of his wife Carrie they have made their winery voted 27th on Trip advisor out of 140 attractions in Healdsburg. Their wine has won many awards too.  All of this you will get to enjoy and appreciate on this Saturday the 5th and the 12th of March with us.  We are taking our yarn show on the road so to speak.  We will be there from 10 am to 5 pm both Saturdays.  If you can, come out and see us it is sure to be a fun day in an amazing setting.  We will be demonstrating knitting, crochet, and spinning.  We will have some wool with us of course, and a few wool products to sell.  AND you can taste wine if you are so inclined!  Bring your partners and friends too a day out for all of you, and a chance to show why you enjoy yarn so much.  Please pass the word. If you have any questions about this just give us a call.  Hope to see you there.

Of course the shop will still be open for business, Linda or Lesley will be there to help you, with whatever you need.

For now I am off.  Stay tuned though. Next week we plan to tell you all about the great new yarns we have brought in for you to enjoy!
