Welcome November!

Sonoma County Yarn Shop

Cascade Yarns Bentley now in stock!

Good Morning,

Can you believe it is November already?  Our friends have left and now it is time to get back to business again.  It was fun while it lasted though. We all had a great time; all being well they will be moving back here next year for good.

At the shop we have so many plans in the works.  So much is happening in the upcoming months; it is all very exciting.

First of all, save the date – Saturday November 28th is Small Business Saturday.  This is an event sponsored by American express.   We will have more details to follow in the coming weeks but suffice it to say that it will be great.  Savings for all, rebates from Amex for those using their cards, it is like free shopping.  You can’t lose!

Our next event is very exciting.

Sonoma County Knitting Class

We recently met with Lea Redmond, a local author, who has just finished writing a wonderful book – Knit the Sky.  She is a delightful lady and she has agreed to come and do a workshop for us.  Yay!!  Lea has been holding these workshops in the East Bay and having a great time I might add.  We are lucky enough to be the first shop in the North Bay to host this workshop. This is to be held in the store at 4.30pm on Sunday December 6th.  Space is very limited so get your reservation in as soon as possible.  The cost of the workshop is $40 without the book and $55 if you buy the book too!  This reflects a discount of $5 off the book.  As a special treat we will give you 10% discount off any yarn you decide to buy at the workshop for your newly discovered creative projects.  The books are on order and we will have them in the shop for your perusal beforehand.  What a great treat for you to take some time out during the craziness of the holidays and have some fun time with the author.

Here is a message from Lea about the workshop:

“Join Lea Redmond, author of Knit the Sky, for an introduction to her adventurous world of knitting, one that is playful, conceptual, and wonderfully personal. Document the weather with stripes. Track your moods in a rainbow of color. And more! She’ll tell stories, show example projects, and guide you through an activity to develop your very own special project in the spirit of “knitting the sky”. You’ll leave the class with at least one bright idea that you can’t wait to knit up! If you’re an accomplished knitter, mix this conceptual approach with your favorite patterns and techniques; if you’re a beginner, design something technically simple that’s full of rich meanings. All you need to bring is paper and pen, life stories, and an open mind!”

We hope you will join us at Yarnitudes for this wonderful opportunity!

We have had so much new yarn arriving this past week it has certainly kept us on our toes.  We have introduced some new lines that we know you will adore.  We have stocked up on your favorites from Cascade and Berroco.  Look at all that Ultra Alpaca!

Sonoma County Yarn Shop

Right there with the Ultra Alpaca is a brand new yarn by Cascade called 220 Superwash  Aran.  100% Superwash wool it is super soft and it knits up at a worsted weight gauge. It has such a fun splashy color to it!  This yarn is also available in solids as a special order.

You probably noticed the lovely yarn in the photo at the top. It is Bentley by Cascade Yarns.  It is a great blend acrylic and superwash wool that knits up beautifully and machine washes like a dream.  It is very reasonably priced.  We can’t wait to work with it!  Stop by to see all the wonderful colors in person.

Speaking of gifts, we have started our annual “Santa’s Wish List.”  I know it seems early, but we like to be prepared!  Just come in and fill out a card with your wish list for the holidays.  If you have ideas for gifts from your friends and loved ones make a note with us and send them by to the shop.  We will make sure we have what you want in the store for them to simply come in and chose for you.  This has always been very successful.  No more wondering if you will get the gift you want, no more dropping hints, and no more guess work.  So far on people’s lists we have needle sets, books, bags, yarn, notions, project kits, and yarn.  We make it very easy for you.

We have given you a lot to think about this week!  I know my head is spinning!  If you have any questions just drop us a line or stop by.  We have many quick project classes scheduled and plenty of last minute gifts for you to knit.  Let us know how we can help you get your gift list checked off!

Please note – we will be closing several days over the holidays.
First off, we will close at 2pm on Wednesday November 25th and be closed all day on on Thursday and Friday the 26th and 27th November.  For a full list of all the holiday closures, please go to the contact page of our website.

Until I see you next!
